Where children learn with curiostiy and confidence
" In 2009 we moved back to Bismarck from Arizona. At that time, my son Quin was 4 years old and my daughter Ella was 3 years old. Their mother and I were both in the process of starting new careers so we interviewed multiple child care providers. None of them met our expectations for our children. A family friend recommended that we contact Sara Hilden as her program was education and child-development based. From our first meeting I knew that it was the place for our kids.
While we visited with Sara, our kids walked around the room and
explored the space. Sara engaged with them and encouraged them to explore while maintaining a conversation with me and their mother. I could tell she was a natural care taker.
Quin and Ella started at New Discovery Montessori Center in the fall of 2009. They loved going to school each day. It was hands on, interactive learning and it was at their own pace. They spent their days mastering fun activities while learning new skills at the same time. Sara & her program put both of my kids on the road to success as they entered kindergarten. They were ahead of their peers from day one and they did not struggle to achieve the grade expectations.
Miss Sara's program taught my children how to learn. Quin and Ella thrived in the gifted/honors programs through their elementary and high school years. I credit Miss Sara, her program and her love of children for that!
I believe that the best investment we ever made, regarding our children's early development, was enrolling them with Miss Sara. I would highly recommend Miss Sara and her program to any family! " - Shane Hafner
"We reached out to NDMC back in October of 2015 after our oldest son started at a preschool in Bismarck. Cooper had never been in a traditional daycare/preschool setting and was not adjusting well. On his first day I saw him sitting in a corner and when I asked how his day went, the director told me it was horrible and proceeded to reprimand me about why we had not placed him in kindergarten since he was five already. From that first day it went downhill very quickly. I was extremely discouraged and reached out to NDMC explaining our situation. Miss Lacie never hesitated and scheduled a walk through with a face-to-face introduction shortly afterwards. On Coopers first day I was extremely nervous but when I arrived to pick him up he was outside playing with all of his new friends and Miss Laci re-assured me that he had a fantastic day. That it would take a little bit to learn the routine and expectations, but he did great. We never hesitated to place our twins in NDMC a year and a half later. From day one, all 3 of my sons thrived while attending NDMC. I may not have known exactly how to explain what and how they were learning at first but that quickly changed as the boys would come home explaining the new lessons that they were starting or the garden they helped put in. It is because of the amazing learning experience with Miss Lacie and Miss Sara that my three sons received while at NDMC along with my youngest son being diagnosed with extreme dyslexia that I made the decision later to place them in a local Montessori K-12 school knowing that the physical learning aspect of the curriculum would allow all three to thrive. Thank you for everything you have done for the boys!" - Melissa Schwartzbauer
